On 24 April, the Porto Metropolitan Area (AMP) hosted the European project mooveEUforward, an initiative approved by the Erasmus+ National Agency, as part of Call 2025 Erasmus+ KA152 YOU – Youth Mobility.

The event was hosted by the Metropolitan Executive Officer Ana Amorim, and featured the presentation of the projects and priorities of AMP in the area of youth by the dedicated officer, Anabela Castro.

Promoted by the WeEurope Network – European Civic Association, the project brings together 32 young people aged 18-30 with fewer opportunities and 8 adult leaders from 8 European countries: Portugal, Italy, Denmark, Greece, Lithuania, Georgia, Spain and Ireland.

The MooveEUforward project was created because its partner organisations all realized that a significant part of European youth, in particular young people in vulnerable situations, remains detached from European issues, with low levels of civic, political and democratic participation. This distance contributes to a more distant experience of European citizenship, often limited to institutional perception, to the detriment of active and transformative involvement.

For the AMP, boosting the involvement of young people in the construction of solutions to the challenges of the territory, as well as bringing youngsters and decision-making structures together are strategic priorities, consistently developed within the scope of metropolitan youth policies.

This is why the AMP has been hosting and participating in national and international projects, promoting the sharing of experiences and articulated work with the 17 municipalities of the metropolitan area, namely through structuring projects such as the Metropolitan Monitor for Youth Public Policy (Youth Monitor) and the Metropolitan Strategic Youth Group (GEMJ).

These gathering moments, reflecting and cooperating, allow to deepen the knowledge on different youth realities, identify synergies and create opportunities for the development of joint projects, contributing to the sharing of good practices on youth policies, active civic participation and better networking.
