The work of requalification of the D. Pedro IV School’s Sports Pavilion, in Mindelo, Vila do Conde, was concluded and celebrated. This intervention fully modernized this school and its sports equipment, reinforcing its use by the educational community and the local associative movement.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Sport, Pedro Dias, the Mayor of Vila do Conde, Vítor Costa, and Orlando Leal, Executive Officer of the AMP, among other entities.
The intervention represents an overall investment of around €2.7 million and is part of the “Cidadãos do Futuro” operation under the AMP Action Plan for Disadvantaged Communities, co-financed within the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
This requalification allowed the significant improvement of the conditions of comfort, functionality and accessibility of the pavilion, as well as the reorganization of its interior, creating better responses for students, athletes, sports associations and the general public.
The project “Cidadãos do Futuro” is led by the Municipality of Vila do Conde, with a total value of €1,463,000, 100% approved funding and an expected duration of 30 months, between July 2023 and December 2025. The operation promotes youth as a central agent of social transformation, based on the principles of participation, active citizenship and youth empowerment, contributing to social and territorial cohesion.
The initiative is based on three complementary lines: the project “Somos + Escola”, focused on improving the school’s infrastructure and physical resources; the project “Somos + Comunidade”, oriented towards the promotion of active citizenship, volunteering and civic and social participation; “Somos + Território”, focused on the involvement of young people with the local reality, through their creative potential and the implementation of Youth Participatory Budgets.
