The European project “Youth Monitor: Local and Regional Public Policy Monitor for Youth”, coordinated by the Porto Metropolitan Area (AMP) and recognised as a Best Practice by the Erasmus+ National Agency in the category of Cooperation Partnerships, is now reaching its results sharing phase. The Final Conference is scheduled for 4 June 2025 at the Multiusos Pavillion, in Gondomar, bringing together young people, policy-makers, youth practitioners and international partners.
Started in September 2023, the project involved the 17 municipalities of the AMP, in partnership with APPJuventude - Portuguese Association of Youth Practitioners, and international bodies such as the Diputació de Barcelona (Spain), the Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo (Italy), the Municipality of Râmnicu Sărat (Romania) and the University of Krems (Austria). Managing a fund of 250,000 euros from the Erasmus+ programme, the ‘Youth Monitor’ aimed to create a mechanism to support the definition and assessment of public youth policies, promoting the active participation of young people in local and regional democratic life.
Throughout the project, participatory workshops were held in the AMP municipalities where young people discussed topics such as education, employment and social inclusion. These initiatives made it possible to gather valuable input for building more effective and inclusive public policies.
The upcoming Final Conference will be an opportunity to present the results achieved, discuss best practices and reinforce the commitment to youth participation and territorial cohesion.
