The Porto Metropolitan Area (AMP) is committed to improving the quality of public road passenger services, namely as far as the timetable compliance of UNIR vehicles and a better coordination with other public services such as Metro do Porto, STCP (bus) and CP (train) are concerned.
This was part of the issues discussed between the AMP Executive Commission, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Agostinho Branquinho, and the new TMP administration, chaired by Nuno Sousa, which took office on 30 January this year.
For the AMP, it is important that citizens have increasing confidence in the road transport service, hence the concern to coordinate with TMP measures that can improve mobility conditions in the region: one of the priorities of the Porto Metropolitan Area.
One of these measures would be to improve compliance with UNIR network timetables, with Nuno Sousa guaranteeing that TMP is focused on achieving greater reliability in public road transport in the 17 municipalities of the AMP.
At the meeting between the AMP and TMP, the need to work towards greater coordination between the UNIR network and other means of transport, such as the metro, trains and STCP buses, was also discussed. This could shorten journeys and thus make public transport more attractive to citizens.
