As part of the "A Closer Government" initiative, the Minister of the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, paid a visit yesterday, December 6, to the PVPL - Póvoa de Varzim Potencia Literacias project, located in Póvoa de Varzim. This project is part of the investment managed by the AMP - Integrated Operations in Disadvantaged Communities in the Porto Metropolitan Area, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.

During the visit, the Minister had the opportunity to participate in a brief exhibition on "As Siglas Poveiras", an ancestral form of writing used by the fishing class of Póvoa de Varzim. This symbol system represents an intangible heritage rooted in the history and culture of this coastal region.

The PVPL aims to promote literacy in the local community, integrating into broader strategies for inclusion and social development. The Minister highlighted the importance of initiatives such as this, which strengthen community ties and contribute to the preservation of unique traditions.
