The Porto Metropolitan Area (AMP) has “very significant” implementation rates in terms of EU funds, says Pedro Duarte, President of the Porto Metropolitan Council (CMP), referring to an implementation rate of 86% of the RRP (Recovery and Resilience Plan) and an approval rate of 76% of NORTE 2030 funded projects.

For Pedro Duarte, it is a reason to praise all the work that has been done by the AMP, which has made it possible, “in a few months”, to recover a lot. “When we arrived here, the circumstances were very difficult. We were clearly the most complicated case in national terms. We had the worst levels of implementation", recalled Pedro Duarte.

To reverse the situation, a working group was created in March, called the Technical Working Group on Fund Management and Implementation (GT-2030), composed of officers from the AMP and its 17 municipalities. “In a few months, we were able to recover very quickly, through intensive work by the AMP, together with its municipalities. I think, in an almost miraculous way," emphasized the president of the CMP.

Thanks to this working group, at the decentralised meeting of the CMP in Espinho it was possible to present an implementation rate of 86% of the RRP (Community Integrated Operations”) and an approval rate of 76% of NORTE 2030 funded projects.

“Today, we have implementation rates that are very significant and what is expected is that we will reach 100% implementation of the RRP”, restated Pedro Duarte.
