Music revisits heritage in the 9th edition of SOUNDS IN HERITAGE SITES, an initiative promoted by the Porto Metropolitan Area (AMP), in partnership with its 17 municipalities. Between September 18 and November 22, historical places, landscapes and memory spaces become scenarios for a programme that invites you to discover the territory through music.
More than a set of concerts, the programme crosses different ways of living and exploring heritage, including guided tours, walks, exhibitions, workshops, food experiences and other proposals for participation and discovery.
The event brings together artists and formations from different musical languages and geographies, including Catarina Carvalho Gomes, Paulo Barros Quarteto, Luísa Sobral, Duo Sirius, Inês Marques Lucas, two, pois, IBSXJAUR, mutu, Marco Oliveira and José Peixoto, emmy Curl, the color of algae, Espiral, Joana Espadinha, Romeu Bairros, João Diogo Leitão, Celina da Piedade and João Xavier and Quarteto Ressonâncias.
The program extends through Vila do Conde, Valongo, Matosinhos, São João da Madeira, Póvoa de Varzim, Porto, Santa Maria da Feira, Santo Tirso, Vila Nova de Gaia, Paredes, Oliveira de Azeméis, Maia, Arouca, Gondomar, Trofa, Vale de Cambra and Espinho, valuing the diversity of places, histories and heritage that make up the metropolitan territory.
In this edition, the public is also invited to contribute to the SOUNDS IN HERITAGE SITES Sound Map, a collective cartography of the sounds of the 17 municipalities, constructed from a question: “What is the sound of your land?”
The initiative therefore proposes another way of looking at the metropolitan territory: through sounds, places and stories that each community keeps and shares.
