On 6 November, the Porto Metropolitan Area hosted a working meeting of the Local Partners Group of the European project Interreg SportsCom – Strengthening the effectiveness of community sports for health resilience in the framework of regional policies, which took place at Leça da Palmeira, Matosinhos.
The meeting featured the presentation of two best practices from the Municipality of Matosinhos: Physical Exercise Prescription and Nutritional Advice for Residents programme, and Walking Sports – Everybody’s Sea Operation project, which promotes physical activity among senior citizens, with a focus on inclusion and community resilience.
During the meeting, more than 50 best practices were shared by the 14 local partners, with a view to producing a digital and possibly printed thematic manual that brings together the most relevant experiences.
International examples of best practices were also presented by European partners from Greece, Poland, the Netherlands, Hungary, Belgium and Serbia, which will serve as inspiration for future local actions.
The next study visit of the project will take place in Athens on 13 and 14 February 2026.
