The project "AMP - Património Cultural: Jornadas Metropolitanas do Património" (AMP – Cultural Heritage: Metropolitan Heritage Days) was shortlisted for the REGIOSTARS Awards 2025 - an EU recognition of the best EU-funded projects that demonstrate the impact and inclusiveness of regional development.

Our project is one of five finalists in the "A Europe closer to the citizens" key area, standing out from 266 applications across Europe. This nomination recognizes the joint work that we have been developing in the valorization of intangible heritage, in the promotion of citizen participation and in the construction of innovative and inclusive cultural policies in the 17 municipalities of the AMP.

About the project: 

The Metropolitan Heritage Days, promoted by the Porto Metropolitan Area, is a large-scale community initiative that values intangible cultural heritage through the involvement of citizens, local agents and communities in the 17 municipalities of the region. With over 50 cultural activities and the creation of the MATER 17 brand, the project promoted local cultural networks and innovative participatory practices.

Among the most striking moments of the project is the creation of the Cor(p)o Metropolitano (Metropolitan Choir/Body), an intermunicipal community choir that unites our communities through art and the sharing of stories, traditions and local identities. What began as an experience is now a living symbol of social cohesion, cultural initiatives and lasting intercultural dialogue.

This distinction is shared by all the municipalities that gave life and voice to this initiative.

Municipalities and their communities, teams and local networks are now mobilized to spread the news and vote on their project for the Public Choice Award. Voting takes place online between 2 September and 15 October (midday), on the official website of the REGIOSTARS awards: https://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/projects/regio-stars-awards_en 

The project will be presented to the jury and the public during the European Week of Regions and Cities.

The AMP will also participate in the #EURegionsWeek event with its stand "Empowering Climate Action: A New Era of Local Resilience in Porto’s Metropolitan Region".

The Awards Ceremony will be held on October 15. This event marks the conclusion of the European Week of Regions and Cities.
