The first ordinary meeting of the Porto Metropolitan Council for the 2025-2029 term, convened by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia and chaired by Luís Filipe Menezes, was held at the headquarters of the Porto Metropolitan Area.
At this meeting, Pedro Duarte, Mayor of Porto, was elected as the new President of the Porto Metropolitan Council. Vice-Presidents Amadeu Albergaria, Mayor of Santa Maria da Feira, and Margarida Belém, Mayor of Arouca, were also elected for this term.
The proposed list for the new Metropolitan Executive Board was also approved and will be put to a vote in the Municipal Assemblies of the municipalities of the Porto Metropolitan Area.
The list is composed of:
- Agostinho Branquinho – Chief Executive Officer
- Orlando Leal, Ana Amorim, Tiago Araújo and Andreia Ferreira – Metropolitan Executive Officers
The new President of the Metropolitan Council emphasised the need to strengthen cooperation between the 17 municipalities of the AMP, advocating constructive dialogue and an ambitious vision to consolidate the Porto Metropolitan Area as a territory of innovation, competitiveness and sustainable development.
