For the second year running, the Porto Metropolitan Area was present at the activities to commemorate Europe Day, which took place in the Justus Lipsius Building at the Council of the European Union in Brussels.

Europe Day is celebrated annually on 9 May to mark the peace and unity of the European continent. This date marks the anniversary of the historic Schuman Declaration in 1950, which presented Robert Schuman's vision for a new form of political co-operation in Europe - a fundamental step towards making war between European countries unthinkable. Schuman's proposal is considered to have laid the foundations for the creation of today's European Union.

The participation of the Porto Metropolitan Area in this event reinforces its commitment to European values and to the project of building a more cohesive, supportive and sustainable Europe.
