The Porto Metropolitan Council met today, with the main focus on the inauguration of the new Porto Metropolitan Executive Board. Agostinho Branquinho took office as Chief Executive Officer, alongside the Executive Officers Orlando Leal, Ana Amorim, Tiago Araújo and Andreia Ferreira.

During the meeting, the President of the Metropolitan Council welcomed the new team, highlighting the decisive role of the Executive Board in coordinating metropolitan public policies and connecting the 17 municipalities of the AMP.

The Metropolitan Council also reviewed and approved the minutes of the meeting of 17 November 2025 and the minutes of the meeting of 28 November 2025.

Another important item on the agenda was the proposal to appoint the Intermunicipal Member of the Board of Directors of the Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho Hospital, representing the municipalities of Gaia and Espinho. José Carlos Rodrigues Oliveira was appointed to this position on the recommendation of the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia.

During the meeting, the mayors also expressed concern about the progress of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), given the deadlines and targets that bind various strategic investments for the metropolitan area. In this regard, the AMP is considering requesting a meeting with the Government to discuss this issue and ensure compliance with the conditions necessary for the successful implementation of ongoing projects.

The AMP continues its work, strengthening inter-municipal cooperation and its commitment to coordinated and effective public action.
