The Porto Metropolitan Area (AMP) welcomed its partners in the “Rural Youth Future” project, a European initiative dedicated to improving the effectiveness of youth employment policies for sustainable rural development, involving seven European countries: Spain, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Lithuania, Portugal, Estonia and Belgium.
These study visits are an essential platform for exchanging good practices, allowing everyone involved to benefit from the partners’ experiences and knowledge, strengthening partnerships and ensuring that the strategies adopted are the most appropriate and effective for promoting employability and sustainability in the rural world.
This project aims to improve the effectiveness of youth employment policies for sustainable rural development, and will address six policy instruments, at municipal, regional and national level, to tackle a common challenge: responding to the needs of young people in their rural territories (employment), reducing inequalities and adopting strategies to combat ageing and growing depopulation.
The session that took place in the AMP was attended by the Vice-President of IPDJ, Paulo Santos, the Regional Director of IPDJ, Vitor Dias, the President of the National Council for Youth, André Cardoso, and the President of the National Federation of Youth Associations, Fernando Vieira.
