The Municipalities of Santo Tirso, Valongo, Maia and Matosinhos established on May 31, 2021, in Santo Tirso, the River Leça’s Corridor’s Municipalities Asociation.

This is the first intermunicipal association in the country mainly dedicated to the recovery of a river, namely to the execution of the 2021-2031 Strategic Program for the Recovery of the River Leça.

This joint effort will enable greater monitoring and combined action on the pollution of the river, its ecological rehabilitation and overall improvement towards its sustainability and adaptation to climate change.
