The Porto Metropolitan Area recognises young people as a key driver for the future of the region, acknowledging their central role in innovation, civic participation and sustainable development. In this section, we bring together all the projects, programmes and activities that reflect the AMP's commitment to supporting and valuing young people in the metropolitan context.
There are urgent challenges, such as equal opportunities for young people in accessing quality jobs, with career and/or salary enhancement, conditions for decent and affordable housing, in time quality and accessible responses regarding mental health, social inclusion and sustainable mobility, in a territory where inter-municipal and intra-municipal asymmetries are still very significant.
Climate change, environmental protection and quality of life are also major concerns for young people in the AMP.
There can be no territorial, economic, social, cultural, environmental, educational and technological development without the human capital of young people. For the AMP and its 17 municipalities, these challenges and the need to involve the youth ecosystem were essential to the strategic and political decision to establish the Metropolitan Council of Councillors for Youth and its respective technical working groups.
Here you can learn about the initiatives developed by the AMP to promote active youth participation, strengthen cooperation networks between municipalities, and create opportunities that foster the personal, educational, and professional growth of young people, contributing to a more inclusive and dynamic society.
