UNIR is the new public road transport network for the Porto Metropolitan Area (AMP), created by the 17 metropolitan municipalities with the aim of offering a more efficient, accessible and sustainable service. It is the result of the unification of road operations into a single system, image and service — except for STCP, which maintains its own operations.
This network represents a profound transformation in metropolitan mobility, investing in new buses, more lines, more timetables, greater territorial coverage, more comfort and better environmental standards. UNIR is thus a decisive step in improving the daily lives of those who live, work or visit the AMP.
Mobility as a metropolitan priority
Public transport has a direct and significant impact on the lives of our residents, which is why it has been at the centre of the AMP's concerns and strategies. Improving mobility means offering a better quality of life, accelerating territorial cohesion and contributing to the environmental sustainability of the region.
The integrated organisation of the various means of transport and their respective infrastructures — buses, metro, trains and mobility interfaces — makes it possible to substantially reduce car traffic and ensure fast and efficient travel, both within cities and between the suburbs and the metropolitan centre.
A network prepared for the future
With hundreds of reorganised lines, a renewed fleet, intermodal ticketing through Andante and a common image throughout the operation, UNIR reinforces AMP's commitment to a modern, inclusive and environmentally responsible public mobility model.
The network is designed to:
- Better respond to the real needs of the population.
- Facilitate daily travel with greater convenience.
- Promote the use of public transport over cars.
- Connect more efficiently the 17 municipalities that make up the AMP.
All information about lines, timetables, routes, fleet and operation of the new network is available on the official UNIR website.
