In the year in which Portugal celebrates the 50th anniversary of 25 April 1974’s Revolution, the Metropolitan Choir/Body came to Porto, to the Coliseu Porto Ageas, to perform April em September, based on its own repertoire and the April songs.

For the 2024 edition, the creative team suggested a show beginning at the Coliseu Porto Ageas at 5 p.m. but also taking place in the street, evoking memories of 25 April 1974, culminating in a performance at the Church of Santo Ildefonso, in Praça da Batalha.

Before that, at 11:00 a.m., in the surrounding area and from a mobile broadcasting station, the Rádio Metropolitana do Porto provided a broadcast specially developed in the context of the creation of this show. An integral and fundamental part of the performance, which took place between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., at which point the broadcast gave way to the live broadcast of the show itself taking place at the Coliseu.

Now in its 4th edition, the Metropolitan Choir/Body returned to rehearsals in April this year, following new open calls for participation, to prepare a show that celebrates the month of Freedom in September, based on the songbook of the revolution, but also on its own original repertoire.
